Stephen taught us how to make a box out of Greyboard. We were given a top and a bottom out of greyboard. We cut out the long and short sides. Glue with wood glue and tape, first make the bottom and then the top. Glue and then tape in place. Attach the sides on top of the bottom. Then make top, attach the sides to the side of the top piece -so it is bigger than the bottom and therefore fits over it. It is best to make a template first so that you can plan how it will fit.
Japanese envelopes.
Take a square piece of paper, fold it in half. Then take a point and fold in half before making a definite fold in the paper. Divide the length from corner to corner by 3. Mark it. Fold along the lines.Thread corners together. Fold top down.
Stephen also gave us a talk about his own work.
He graduated in Illustration.
Afterwards, there were many DJ nights with friends – a tearaway perhaps? He made silk screen work for flyers onto MDF and Wood. At the nightclub they gave away badges and prints and other gifts. He made other posters in Cornwall where he lived for a bit. He then made and printed books. He then designed a sandwich board to sell them. He became like the German Street seller of illustration – a figure with a string on a button on his coat attached to a stick.
He held a Wild Woman life drawing class. He made outfits and masks and friends dressed up and posed.

There was music in the background. He brought the idea to the Heyward Gallery and had a drawing day for children, he also took it to Margate. He puts on workshops for children, who, he finds, are very receptive to the whole stamping idea. He has just produced a book about Stamping which will come out in the Autumn.
